This is Part 4 of a 5-Part series examining a private police force that has taken root in Detroit.
Everyone should take the time to learn about Detroit’s Threat Management Center. Check out this amazing interview on the Tom Woods Show. Search the name in YouTube, and just start watching videos. What Dale Brown’s organization is doing is amazing. In every aspect of the provision of police and security services, TMC is superior to Detroit PD. This superiority begins with their recruitment and training programs, continues with their strategy of providing security, and culminates when one compares results.
When Dale Brown began providing security services to the “Crack Alley” neighborhood, the immediate and most visible results were to put an end to the persistent violent crime. But there were secondary results that were equally as important. The owners of the apartment buildings began making a profit for the first time in years. The local businesses of the neighborhood started thriving. Children were able to play outside. It wasn’t just physical protection that TMC brought to the neighborhood, it was an increased economic well-being and standard of living.
Despite seeking profit, Brown’s TMC remains able to serve those who are least able to afford its services. To be considered for hire, an applicant must be willing to donate time to protecting those who need but cannot pay for such services. Via taxation, these people already pay for these services through the Detroit PD, but that artificially created institution has proved inadequate. The Detroit Threat Management Center is picking up the slack.
Brown’s company has succeeded in yet another way that Detroit PD has largely failed. Witnesses have become more willing to testify at trials of accused murderers and violent offenders as TMC provides them with a bodyguard and ensures their safety. Those guilty of violent crime are at greater risk of being held accountable.
In more than 20 years of service, TMC has never had anyone with whom they’ve been interacting end up severely injured or killed. Never has a TMC security or bodyguard been severely injured or killed. TMC has had zero court dates related to the application of their services. The Detroit PD, as with many like it across the country, has been involved in numerous police brutality scandals and has murdered their innocent person or two.
When compared to Detroit PD, TMC’s superior recruitment and training combined with superior strategies lead to superior results. The difference is clear.
