Freedom Realized

Just yesterday I was talking to one of my friends about belief systems (for short, BS), and she was telling me she is mostly a good person but if someone hurts her sisters she would totally look for a way to revenge them. I told her that most people vibrate on a similar frequency and it was normal… and that most people lean towards libertarianism even when they do not realize it.

She said she actually does not like the legal system because it is just a bloated organization that never resolves anything and only absorbs energy and resources. At this point, I was really enjoying what someone that is not labeled “anarchist” or “libertarian” is sharing with me.

I went on to say that the system is actually meant to be this way. That the powers that WERE try really hard to keep us discombobulated and thinking we are unable to take care of business on our own and that we need a mother/father figure (depending if you are a liberal or conservative). They want us to form a true spontaneous order where we take care of one another. And unlike most people in the intelligentsia want us to believe, this will not create any form of chaotic Mad Max society. The fear they instill in people is only a reflection of their own insecurities to be able to contribute to society and provide a service or a product to their fellow humans and this is the very reason they look to control others, it’s a psychological aberration.

The reality of things is that most people are mostly good most of the time, and when we provide enough trust, responsibility, and know-how, people rise above our expectations because that is the human nature… to expand and grow. And by doing this we create a virtuous cycle that eliminates previous momentum of bad expectations and results.

This is not just some wishful thinking, I have been teaching this to executives in the Forbes 100 list of best companies to work for for 7 years, and the founding partner of my firm has been doing this for as long as I have been alive and with great results. A lot of times we are invited into organizations to help them change their ideology around since they are hurting and we change cultures and transform them from within. We help them see that spontaneous order is not just organic but more sustainable and produces better business results. We help them see how they do not necessarily require a mandate or company policy to do the right thing even when they can get away with doing sub-par performance or being aggressive towards others. We help them see how all our actions ultimately come back at us in one way or another.

Most times, what we need is to know that things are possible, to be able to do them. And when it comes to the state, they continue to promote chaos, destruction and division to maintain that same song in our heads. In my perspective, what it takes to actualize a laissez faire society is to demonstrate people how it is possible, and not just possible but it can/will yield better results. As we integrate freedom into our lives and deepen our relationship with spontaneous order, other people begin to listen and get inspired by it.
