Take Away the Ghost of Your Life, Be Eccentric You, and Allow the Extraordinary

America is always trying to sell us a certain way of being. We have a seemingly wide array of cliches to choose from. There’s the mainstream, cheerleader type who loves shopping and selfies; there’s the intellectual who cares about politics and human rights; and if you fancy something more rebellious you can choose from stoner, peaceful hippie type, skateboarder, or even punk rock Anarchist type. But we’re always being sold something that we’re not. Make your eyebrows thinner, have thicker, longer hair, or be more motivated, or more pleasant, or funnier. Whatever we are, it’s not ok in the mainstream’s eyes.

But there’s nothing more beautiful on the entire planet, in my view, than a human being being their truest, most authentic self. Being really, really ourselves is always eccentric. Weird even. There’s nothing more beautiful than someone letting it all hang out; when you align with yourself, and you’re just exploding yourself all over. Everything becomes a celebration, because it’s so fun to be really, really you in the fullest way possible and share yourself with others. Others celebrate, too, because there’s nothing more beautiful on the entire planet than a person exploding with themselves. As I type that sentence, I realize that the term “full of yourself” has a negative connotation in America. I can’t imagine why not being full of yourself would be a good quality, except that you’re easy to control if you’re not full. What will other people think of us when we feel big, and we’re exploding ourselves all over? Some people won’t be able to be around you, yes. Weaker people will be intimidated and offended. Right now you’re probably thinking either consciously or subconsciously, “Who am I to be big and full of myself?” It’s daring to look at yourself and be like “I’m fucking awesome. I’m going to live in that awesomeness, and I’m going to embrace all the things that make me weird and different.”

All successful people embrace what makes them weird and different. People think being successful is to follow what others did to be successful, to please the widest array of people as possible, but it’s not true. There are a ton of shamans out there, but not many Anarchist shamans, a ton of spiritual writers out there, but not many who say “fuck.” When you’re yourself, your competition is merely eliminated. Because there’s no other you out there. You have a unique, signature energy and style. No one can compete with that. When we’re fully ourselves we’re a walking piece of art.

Who were you before your parents, aunts, uncles, teachers, the television told you who you are? Before they told you you’re too energetic, your hair’s too frizzy, you play too many video games, you’re too old to play with toys? If you don’t remember, that’s ok! You’re in for an exciting adventure of discovery!

Once we’re aligned it’s time to create. Because we become so full of ourselves that it has to spill out into the world around us.
When we’re aligned with ourselves, we’re aligned with the world around us, and life feels magical.
